CR3000  is an Instruments for screening and monitoring your oxidative state with the Free Oxygen Radical Test (FORT) and Free Oxygen Radical Defence (FORD) .

How it is done

It is simple blood tests that can be performed in the clinic. Capillary blood samples are collected in capillary tubes, placed into cuvettes containing reagents and then placed in the machine for the result. The results are available arround10 minutes.

Why test for free Radicals?

An excess production of free radicals causes oxidative stress. Our body’s normal cellular repair functions are geared to repairing the damage caused by the Oxidative stress.

If this is undetected it can seriously affect health and performance from mild complaints to more serious illnesses. Consequently Oxidative Stress is a vital warning signal of fundamental importance for preventative medicine and healthcare as well as the monitoring of relevant therapies during treatment.

There are 3 sources free rediacal

  1. Internally generated sources of free radicals are; Xanthine oxidase, Peroxisomes, Inflammation, Phagocytosis, Arachidonate pathways, Exercise, Ischemia/reperfusion injury, etc.
  2. Externally generated sources of free radicals are: Cigarette smoke, Environmental pollutants, Radiation, Certain drugs, pesticides, Industrial solvents, Ozone,etc.
  3. Evironmental causes of free radicals are: daily stress – emotional and physical, Ozone depletion, Air pollutants, Carbon Monoxide, Nitric Oxide, Aldehydes, Alkyl Nitrates, Smoking cigarettes, Inflammation, Radiation (which includes UV rays from the sun), Industrial chemicals, etc

Hence, both external and internal free radical sources overwhelm the body’s natural ability to neutralize free radicals, creating a risk of developing a host of degenerative diseases.

Oxidative stress is not a disease but a condition which can lead to or accelerate the progress of diseases.

The signs of oxidative reactions are present in our everyday life like, apples turn brown; butter turns rancid, iron rusts. Similar oxidative stress happens in our body.

Therefore, measuring free radical (FORT Test) is essential to discovering the onset of diseases and monitoring the efficacy of treatments taken in a disease situation.  

Why Test Antioxidants

If we say the bad guys are called free radicals– highly reactive and unstable chemicals that damage tissue and DNA.

Than Antioxidants are the good guys. Because these are the molecules that neutralise and balance free radicals while constantly working to stop the progression of oxidative damage.

The body produces a range of its own (endogenous) protective antioxidants, which does struggle to keep up with the high demand, especially when it is over-taxed by factors such as stress, poor nutrition, and lack of sleep.

Some foods that are also rich in antioxidants and these may boost the body's own supply. 

Food sources of Antioxidants  

Beta-carotene – orange foods such as carrots, pumpkin, apricots, sweet potatoes and some leafy greens such as kale.

Lutein – green, leafy vegetables such as spinach.

Lycopene  –  tomatoes, watermelon, papaya.

Selenium – rice and wheat.

Vitamin A – carrots, sweet potato, milk, egg yolks.

Vitamin E – almonds, vegetable oils, mangoes, nuts, broccoli.

Vitamin C  – available in many fruits and vegetables such as parsley, broccoli, berries, oranges, cauliflower, kale.

It is clear that antioxidants are vital to strengthen and protect the immune system and to help guard against disease and illness.
